Overview

What is a Hubsite?

A hubsite is a type of small website created with the GIS online program ESRI Hub. The point of the program is to connect webpages easily to an open data source within the organization - maps, surveys, and other data that we use ESRI for. The program is limited because it is not meant for long term or larger projects, but more as a platform for public outreach about projects, their progress, and other data that needs to display accurate and up to date GIS data.

Getting a Hubsite

Not all content should be a Hubsite. Some content should be a page on an already established hubsite, others a page on our main site, even others just a document. To find out if your content should be a hubsite, check the requirements below.

Requirements/Guidelines on what may need a hubsite:

  • A temporary project or initiative with meetings and surveys
  • An entity with its own rules, hours, schedule of events
  • An ongoing program that may produce small projects or meetings

To request a new hubsite, use this ticket form so we can help you efficiently.

Tips on Usage

  • Save vs Publish
    • Hubsite keeps multiple "versions" of each page at a time. There is a draft version and a published version. Think of the draft version like your local, hidden version, and the published version as everyone else's view*.
    • Save updates the draft version only. Publish updates the published view*. This can be helpful when you wish to update a page ahead of a publish date.
      • *The published view is available to different people depending on the settings of the page - more details on this are in the "Editing Hubsite Content on Pages"
  • Do not have multiple people working on the same page at the same time!
