Overview:
Understanding the different network drives available within the Borough network is essential for efficient collaboration and data management. This guide outlines the purposes and permissions associated with the J drive (Dept Drive), the Shared drive (S drive), and Home drives (H drive).
Instructions:
J Drive (Dept Drive):
- The J drive consists of collaboration folders unique to each department or functional group.
- These folders are managed by permissions, ensuring that only specific groups and individuals have access to them.
- Access to J drive folders is restricted based on departmental or functional group requirements.
Shared Drive (S Drive):
- The Shared drive is accessible at all Borough locations.
- All users have rights to modify and delete files within the folders under the Shared drive.
- This drive facilitates easy sharing of information across the Borough, promoting collaboration and accessibility.
Home Drives (H Drive):
- Home drives are designated for storing work-related information that should not be stored on the C:\ drive and should not contain personal information.
- Each user has their own Home drive for personal file storage and organization.
- Home drives provide a secure and centralized location for individual users to store and access their work-related files.
Backup Procedures:
- All network folders, including Home drives, are backed up regularly to ensure data integrity and availability.
- In the event of accidental file deletion or loss, users can request file recovery through the backup system.
Note: It's essential to adhere to access permissions and data management practices to maintain data security and confidentiality within the Borough network.
