Security Best Practices

Exercise Extreme Caution

  • Quarantined emails failed one or more security checks.
  • Treat them as potentially harmful until verified.

Security Hygiene

  • Avoid clicking links or downloading attachments unless you’re confident in the sender’s legitimacy.

SPF/DKIM/DMARC Failures

  • If an email is blocked due to SPF/DKIM/DMARC:
    • Open a ticket with IT prior to forwarding.
    • IT will coordinate with the vendor to resolve the issue.

Password-Protected PDFs

  • These are flagged because Barracuda cannot scan them.
  • Only open if you trust the sender and content.
  • Alternatively use OneDrive to share protected files—it scans for malicious content.
