ReDACTING
a Document
Redacting a word document allows you to censor or
obscure text within a document for legal or security purposes.

To Create a
Redacted Document
1. Locate
the Word Document you want to redact.
2. Right-Click
and select Electronic, and then Rendering Request.

3. Select
to Create Tiff Rendition.
Note: If you want
to create a PDF file please see the Renditions How To.
4. It
may take a few minutes to generate a Tiff rendition.
5. In
about 5 minutes go to Properties/Renditions Tab and your Tiff should be there.

a. You
can also view a “preview” of the document in the lower view pane by selecting
the Rendition Tab.

Redacting the
Document
1.
After you create a Tiff file for the document you want to redact,
Right-Click, select New, and then New Redaction.

2. The
document will appear. With your curser you can begin drawing “boxes” and redact
any part of the document needed.
3. When
finished select Save as PDF.
a. If
you are not completely done, select the Save as Draft option. To resume
redacting the document Right-click, select New, and New Redaction. You will see
your previous work that has been redacted and may continue until complete.
4. Once
you have Saved as PDF, CM will:
a. Automatically
produce a new record number for the newly redacted document.
b. The
title will remain the same as the original document but will indicate at the
end “(Redacted)”.
c. The
Redacted record is automatically contained within the same record as the
original document.
5. To
navigate quickly to the original document:
a. Right-click,
Select Navigation, and then Redacted From

b. Note:
if you made multiple redaction edits you will need to complete 5a numerous
times until you are at the original document.
6. To
view the original document and the redactions:
a. Right-click,
select Properties, the Renditions tab, locate and highlight the Transparent
Redaction, Right-click and select View.
b. Note:
You can also view the redacted document using the Rendition tab in the Lower
View Pane.
