Taking a Screenshot with Snip & Sketch
To take a screenshot with Snip & Sketch, follow these steps:

Open Snip & Sketch
- Open the Start menu and search for "Snip & Sketch."
- Alternatively, you can press
Windows logo key + Shift + S
to initiate a screen snip.

Create a New Snip
- Click "New" in the Snip & Sketch toolbar to start a new snip.
- Tip: Click the downward-pointing arrow (˅) next to "New" to add a delay before capturing the screen.

Select the Type of Snip
- Choose one of the following snip types:
- Rectangular Snip: Drag a rectangle to capture a specific area.
- Freeform Snip: Select an area with a freeform shape.
- Window Snip: Capture a specific window.
- Full-Screen Snip: Capture the entire screen.

Edit or Annotate the Screenshot
- If you initiated the snip with a keyboard shortcut, click the notification that appears to open Snip & Sketch for editing.
- Use the markup tools to annotate or highlight parts of the screenshot.

Save or Copy the Screenshot
- Note that Snip & Sketch does not automatically save snips. The screenshot is copied to the clipboard, allowing you to paste it elsewhere.
- To save the screenshot to disk, click "File" and choose "Save As." Select the location and file format to save your screenshot.
Configuring Snip & Sketch to Use the PrintScreen Key
To set the PrintScreen key to launch screen snipping, follow these steps:

Open Snip & Sketch Settings
- Search "Snip" in the Start menu and select "Settings" under the "Snip & Sketch" app.

Enable PrintScreen Shortcut
- Turn on "Use the Print Screen key to launch screen snipping."
- Now, pressing the PrintScreen key will open the screen snipping tool.
Setting Snip & Sketch to Prompt for Saving Screenshots
To ensure Snip & Sketch prompts you to save screenshots, do the following:

Open Snip & Sketch Settings
- Click the three dots ("...") in the Snip & Sketch toolbar and select "Settings."

Enable Save Snips
- Turn on "Save snips" to prompt you to save unsaved screenshots before closing the window.

Optional: Manage Clipboard Behavior
- Turn off "Auto copy to clipboard" if you prefer not to overwrite the clipboard with the latest screenshot. This gives you more control over what is in your clipboard.

Exit Settings
- Click the back arrow ("←") in the top left corner to exit Snip & Sketch settings.
