RE-OPEN A CONTAINER
(REMOVE THE CLOSED
DATE) ON A FOLDER OR BOX
This document describes how
Record Coordinators can remove a Closed Date that has been entered on a folder or box. This task can only
be completed by Division Record
Coordinators; end users
do not have this permission.

NOTE: Record Coordinators are only able to remove Closed
Dates on Active records. If this change needs to be made on an Inactive or
Archived record, the Record Coordinator will need to enter a Help ticket asking
that Records staff open the record’s access settings so that the needed changes
can be made.
1. Right-click and select Archiving, then Re-open Container. The following dialog
window will appear.

2. The options
in this dialog
are your choice;
make the selections you prefer according
to the work you are doing.
a.
For example, if the documents need to be modified, you would
check the box to unfinalize the documents. On the other hand, if you want to preserve
the documents as they are so that no changes can be
made, you will want to leave that box un-checked.
3.
Click OK.
a. If you are asked
if it is okay to overwrite the log file, click “Yes”.
This will remove the Closed Date from this Container and also any of its “children”, i.e., subfolders, or folders for a Box.
