Network Drive Access

Overview

The Borough utilizes network drives for storing documents. Use this service to request access to files on Borough hosted shared drives (e.g., J: Department shares, S: Shared Drive, or other mapped network paths).

Description of service

This service grants, modifies, or revokes permissions to file shares hosted on Borough file servers. IT places users into the correct security groups and maps drives as needed. Typical scenarios include:

  • New employee access to a departmental share

  • Temporary read-only access for cross-department collaboration

  • Removal of access when duties change

Before submitting this request

  • Obtain supervisor or data-owner approval for each shared drive or folder you are requesting.

  • Gather these details in advance:

    • Name of the user(s) requesting access

    • Drive letter and folder path (e.g., S:\_All Borough\Borough Forms)

    • Required permission level (Read & Write or Read-Only)

    • Business justification

    • Access timeframe (if temporary)

How we process this request

Once we receive your request, we will assign it to a technician who will contact you during normal business hours.
