Shared Calendar or Mailbox Access

Overview

Use this service to manage the permissions of calendars, mailboxes, and email distribution lists in Microsoft 365 / Outlook.

Description of service

This service manages access to mailboxes, calendars, and email distribution lists hosted in the Borough’s Microsoft 365 tenant. IT places users into the correct Microsoft 365 security or distribution groups, and assigns the requested permission level (e.g., Read-only, Send As). Typical scenarios include:

  • Granting a new staff member editor rights to a department calendar

  • Granting "Send As" privileges for a shared mailbox

  • Removing shared mailbox access as job duties change

Before submitting this request

  • Obtain supervisor or mailbox/calendar owner approval for each resource you are requesting.

  • Collect the following information ahead of time:

    • Name/Email address of the requesting user(s)

    • Name/Email address of the shared calendar, mailbox, or email distribution group

    • Required permission level (View Only, Editor, Send As, Send on Behalf, Full Access)

How we process this request

Once we receive your request, we will assign it to a technician who will contact you during normal business hours.
