VPN Access

Overview

Use this service to request VPN Access for connecting to internal Borough resources (e.g., shared drives, Content Manager, or administration portals) while off-site or working from home.

Description of service

This service adds or removes VPN access through the Global Protect VPN client. IT assigns users to the appropriate VPN group and enforces multi-factor authentication (MFA) and least-privilege firewall rules.

You do NOT need the VPN for everyday cloud services.
Examples that work without VPN include:
• Checking Outlook email or Calendar via web/mobile
• Microsoft Teams chat or meetings
• Borough-approved SaaS apps such as Adobe Sign, Help Client Portal, or SharePoint Online
• Public websites and Microsoft 365 online tools

Before submitting this request

  • Confirm your supervisor or department head has approved the access.

  • Gather the following information:

    • Name of the requesting user(s)

    • Device type (Laptop, iPad, etc.)

    • A list of the internal systems or drives you need to reach over VPN

    • Access start and end date

How we process this request

Once we receive your request, we will assign it to a technician who will contact you during normal business hours.
