Loaner Request

Overview

Request short-term temporary workstations (laptops or desktops) for travel, training, or other special circumstances.

Description of service

If you need a temporary loaner computer, we can assign one to you for up to 30 calendar days (extensions require IT approval). Each loaner comes with:

  • The standard Borough software suite

  • Power adapter and basic peripherals (mouse, carrying sleeve) if requested

  • VPN and Wi-Fi profiles for on-site or remote connectivity

Technicians will assign the device, transfer essential files (if the primary device is accessible), and record custody in the asset system. When the loaner is returned, IT may wipe the unit for the next borrower.

Before submitting this request

  • Confirm your primary device is inoperative, in transit, or unavailable for more than one business day, or that this need isn't easily met with your primary workstation (e.g. you need the loaner(s) for off-site training.)

  • Obtain supervisor or project-manager approval.

  • Gather the following details:

    • Primary device asset tag and current status (e.g., “in warranty repair, ETA 7 days”)

    • Business justification (critical deadline, field work, conference, etc.)

    • Required loan period (start and estimated return date)

    • Any special software you need preinstalled (AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, etc.)

    • Any peripherals you need to be included with the loaner.

How we process this request

Once we receive your request, we will assign it to a technician who will contact you during normal business hours to:

  1. Confirm eligibility and available inventory.

  2. Schedule pickup or delivery.
