Overview

Get help with Borough-issued computer accessories, such as monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, headsets, webcams, printers, scanners, external drives, adapters, and specialty cables.
(For software or driver problems with these devices, use the separate Application Support - Other service.)

Description of service

This service diagnoses and resolves hardware-related peripheral failures, including:

  • No power or intermittent power on monitors, printers, or docking stations

  • Distorted, dim, or flickering display output; dead pixels; damaged monitor stands

  • USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt, or audio ports that are loose or non-functional

  • Broken keys, unresponsive touchpads, or worn-out mouse buttons

  • Cracked headsets, mute buttons that fail, or microphone/speaker malfunctions

  • Label or receipt printers that jam, misfeed, or fail to cut paper

  • Barcode/RFID scanners that do not read or transmit data

  • Frayed, bent, or missing adapters and specialty cables

Before submitting this request

  1. Verify connections – re-seat power, data, and video cables at both ends.

  2. Test on another port/device if possible (e.g., plug the monitor into a different computer).

  3. Gather the following details (photos help for visible damage):

    • Peripheral type, make/model, and asset tag/serial number

    • Description of the issue and when it began (e.g., “since yesterday, monitor flickers every 5 minutes”)

    • Any recent moves, drops, or liquid exposure

    • Cables or adapters involved and their lengths/types

    • Business impact or urgency (cannot print shipping labels, no external display, etc.)

Supervisor approval is required for replacement of lost or stolen peripherals.
