Overview

Get help connecting external storage devices - flash drives, portable SSD/HDDs, or SD cards - to Borough computers or network devices. Every removable drive must be scanned and approved before use to protect against cybersecurity threats.

Description of service

This service:

• Performs full antivirus and malware scans of removable drives using the Borough’s current endpoint-protection suite

• Assigns USB drives to computers in cases where a persistent drive is required.

Typical scenarios include copying vendor-provided data and transferring data off of field equipment,

Before submitting this request

• Obtain supervisor or project-owner approval for using external media.

• Gather:

  • The type of device (USB drive, SD card, portable hard drive, etc.)

  • Business justification and destination system(s) the drive will touch

Please note that image and video transfers from Borough mobile devices are permitted without requesting this service. If you would like help transferring images or videos off of your work iPhone or iPad, please give us a call.
