Overview

Acquire paid or free apps for Borough-managed iPhones and iPads. Because the Borough is now federated with Apple Business Manager (ABM), all App Store purchases must be requested through IT so licenses can be bought, tracked, and assigned centrally.

Description of service

This service handles the full lifecycle of iOS app procurement and deployment:

  • Purchases licenses in Apple Business Manager with the Borough’s Volume Purchase account

  • Assigns licenses to specific device or user groups and pushes the app via the Company Portal application

  • Monitors license usage, reclaims unused seats, and manages renewals or in-app-purchase subscriptions

Typical requests include purchasing a field data collection tool, adding paid navigation or inspection apps, or deploying a vendor-specific client required for a project.

Before submitting this request

  • Confirm the app is not already deployed. Look through the list of apps in Intune Company Portal first on your device.

  • Obtain supervisor or department admin approval for any paid licenses.

  • Gather the following details (App Store link preferred):

    • Exact app name and publisher

    • Cost per license or subscription pricing tier

    • Intended user group(s) or device pool(s)

    • Business justification and required features (note any in-app purchases)

    • Desired deployment date and whether installation should be mandatory or optional

Providing an App Store URL and screenshot accelerates processing.

How we process this request

Once we receive your submission, we will assign it to a technician who will:

  1. Review the security/privacy profile and confirm license counts.

  2. Purchase licenses for the app

  3. Create a deployment profile and test installation on a pilot device.

  4. Notify you when the app is available in Company Portal—or auto-installed if required.
