Employee Reclassification Request

Overview:

Description of service:

When a job has evolved to a point where substantial additional duties have been added and those duties have been adequately performed by an incumbent bargaining unit employee, the Association shall provide a written reclassification request to the employee’s supervisor and Human Resources objecting to the current classification. The Borough shall respond within fourteen (14) days and may choose to reclassify the position or direct the employee to cease performing the additional duties.

Before submitting this request: 

Feel free to reach out to Human Resources (HR) and request a Word Version of your job description. It is required to submit a copy with tracked changes that reflects the duties being performed and changes to the position that support the reclassification request.

How we process this request:

  1. Employee submits ticket - information is forwarded to MSBEA
  2. MSBEA Reviews
  3. MSBEA forwards to HR with their review
  4. HR will then process:
    1. Facilitate Division Manager Review
    2. HR Evaluation
    3. Facilitate Review by the Department Director and Deputy Borough Manager
  5. HR will submit to the Classification Committee if warranted
