Overview:
Description of service:
As discussed in Section B of the January 1, 2025 Collective Bargaining Agreement, a supervisor shall make an attempt to resolve all employee performance concerns which arise in the
workplace without formal discipline, with the exception of egregious misconduct noted in Section C.
These attempts should include documentation of conversations with the Employee, notifying them of
performance concerns and how they may be resolved. This ticketing request is designed to help gather all the information, from the first informal verbal coaching session, through the follow-up emails, and so on, in the hopes of resolving all performance concerns with the lowest level of formal discipline.
Before submitting this request:
Be prepared to be as detailed as possible. Dates of concern, coaching moments, follow-ups, are all important and should be included in the ticket.

Before you act, you should ask yourself the following questions:
- Is the employee aware of the policy or expected behavior?
- Have I objectively gathered all the facts?
- Am I responding quickly, consistently, and reasonably?
- Do prior performance evaluations substantiate the employee’s ongoing deficiencies?
- Has progressive discipline been applied? Why? Why not?
- For more serious discipline, such as demotion and dismissal, it is important to identify if the case has been well documented, and if just cause has been determined?
- Is the discipline reasonably related to the offense?
